Thanksgiving – A Day to Survive Family

This year I am hiding from family.  I am tired of the fights, the stress, and going through the motions simply for traditions sake.  I will go through it for the name of Christmas, but I will no longer endure it on turkey day.  My daughter, husband, and I are all in hiding and will return after the holiday.

I am thankful for being able to drive several hours away and escape those around me that don’t get me.  I am thankful for my loyal and supportive husband, the crazy child that doesn’t listen, and my debt.  I am thankful that I write for myself to help reduce stress.  If someone ever sees the value in my words than GREAT.  I am thankful for each one of my readers.

What are you thankful for?

Jim Gaffigan: “Thanksgiving. It’s like we didn’t even try to come up with a tradition. The tradition is, we overeat. ‘Hey, how about at Thanksgiving we just eat a lot?’ ‘But we do that every day!’ ‘Oh. What if we eat a lot with people that annoy the hell out of us?'”

I’m glad that you’re able to find a way to enjoy the holiday. I am lucky enough that I like my family, for the most part, but there are times I wouldn’t mind escaping for a little bit.
